In an effort to help raise funds for the relocation and reconstruction of a beloved St. Louis area bookstore, I developed these “book bonds” as a way for customers to invest in the store’s new location as well as guarantee/encourage continued patronage in the future. Book lovers could purchase these book bonds, printed on some very lovely linen textured paper stock, for less than the face value of the actual bond. The purchaser could then use the current value of the bond, or wait six months for the bond to fully mature, thus getting a return on his or her literary investment. The bonds were a big hit during the holiday season, as they made the perfect “gift that keeps on giving.” Literally.
