This event was conceived and designed to kick off SXSW 2017 celebrations with books, beats and libations at Flat Track Coffee (1619 E. Cesar Chavez). More than 250 attendees joined the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Texas Library Association for WAX FROM THE STACKS, a soulful celebration featuring vintage vinyl and other tunes spun from the archival collections of the Austin Public Library.
Attendees learned more about how to access the carefully curated collection of digital downloads, compact discs, films and printed materials from their local branch, or from the comfort of their own digital device. No library card? No problem. The Austin Public Library’s human-powered mobile bike branch, unbound: sin fronteras, was on hand to to register Austin residents for library cards.
