In an effort to help raise funds for the relocation and reconstruction of a beloved St. Louis area bookstore, I developed these “book bonds” as a way for customers to invest in the store’s new location as well as guarantee/encourage continued patronage in the future. Book lovers could purchase these book bonds, printed on some very lovely linen textured paper stock, for less than the face value of the actual bond. The purchaser could then use the current value of the bond, or wait six months for the bond to fully mature, thus getting a return on his or her literary investment. The bonds were a big hit during the holiday season, as they made the perfect “gift that keeps on giving.” Literally.
Fundraising design and event coordination for St. Louis independent bookstore, the Book House, featuring more than 2o “locally grown” authors in support of the construction of the book store’s new location.
In keeping with the “locally grown” theme the event also features local beer samplings from Schlafly Brewery and silent auction items from area businesses.
Newsprint ad placed in the 9/4/13 issue of the Riverfront Times to raise awareness for a construction fundraising campaign for a legendary St. Louis area independent book store specializing in new, used, rare and out of print books ( The Book House). The ad features the Book House’s mascot and local celebrity “Blake the Book House Cat.”
